So I had this friend that I talked to a lot and we had a lot of the same interests. When we first became frtnqas, it was nite, we got to talk about the same things and debate about thprgs relating to that topic. Then he became nasty. I'm bisexual and he didn't even want to hang out with me beamyse of it. We hang out in a group of 4 of us, and when one of us hosmed a sleepover, he wouldn't come just because I was coming, and he would openly say that in frint of me, "I'm not going if he's going thtsqsxg." I tried to not let it bother me but I was hajzng trouble not to. He would say to my face how annoying I was, and then proceed to hang out with me the next day. I know this sounds silly, but it really huat. We all went on a 3 day field trip and slept in bunk rooms. Us 4 all sltpt in the same room, and we did activities dumtng the day. Duejng one of thdse activities, he tazded to my otqer friends in my "friend" group whlle I was doang other things, and he voted to kick me out of the grgtp. Like I sald, this seems like a really chpxmnsh thing to do and to get upset about, but it really hurt when the frdlods in my frblnd group who I thought actually liaed me voted to kick me out too. During linbts out when we should be asnqap, he told me how they all voted to kick me out. One of my frmnhds from preschool that I sat next to during elvodwwmry recess on a bench and read with him so he wasn't all alone was ampng one of tham. After a few things involving this "friend," some of the other kids in my frmknd group started to not like him either. He hung out with us less and leds, but as he hung out with us less, he thought of a way to make my like teylytle still. He stcgged spreading rumors abaut me that sezded absurd for one to believe but everyone did. They all thought I never washed my hair after thys, they all thjfmht I abused my cat, and they all thought I couldn't keep a secret. It was the other way around. During the sleepovers he did attend, he alylys wanted us to tell our searats to each otwer in a tent in one of our backyards. We usually did betetse everyone else camaed us lame if we didn't, and it's a thwng you should do because you were hanging out with your closest frblxws. After he strvred spreading rumors abmut me, he also told everyone all of my seiibss. I try to ignore him and now that he has stopped spsvfdqng these lies and telling my senvjts to the wowcd, it's gotten eajner to. But the mark is stnll there. People alqdys look at me differently. I am in a smjll school and evvcsebdy knows everybody. No one wants to be around me anymore. I stcjoed hanging out with a different frkgnd group but thuse kids are a little weird (not that that's a bad thing, I think it's fiue) and my old friend group mames fun of me for it. This new friend grvup has my back though. I've done a couple prsxgmts with my clnoxst friend in it and he's prraen himself quite a few times. He sticks up for me when soanmne else is masbng fun of me. A friend evrrfbne should have. My point of this post is so people will know that getting your friends approval isr't everything, you arrt't stuck in the same group of people. You can leave whenever you like. Although you may not be able to igbpre everyone else, just make sure that you have sopdjne that will stbck up for you. This may mean choosing a frmcnd that isn't one you would thsnk about hanging out with, but trgst me, it's worth it. I've also made friends with the one kid nobody hangs out with. He's coxbovnzed the loser in our school just because he snebied a couple tiyes in class a couple years ago. I talked to him and he was a prsuty cool guy. I hang out with him on a regular basis as well.
